Gashouse drew the defending tourney champions, GUZZLERS in their first game. Played good solid D  and stuck right with the Koreans for 4 innings in a low scoring game. In the 5th the Guzzlers erupted for 7, and the Gas bats never got the wake up call and  wasn’t able to answer back, eventually losing 15-3.

The Gas bounced back against their old rivals the River Rats in the second game of the round robin winning a game that was tight the whole way by a 9-6 margin.

After an extended layoff the Gas played in the last game of the day under the lights and finished the round robin portion of the tournament with a 14-2 mercy of the Prambors from Jakarta. The victory gave the Gas the #2 seed in their division and a ticket into the Championship Bracket of the tournament for the 3rd consecutive year.

Did the long day out at the field and not arriving back at the hotel until after 10 PM keep the Gas from going out on Friday night. Heck no! But come the 7 AM wake up call on Sat AM and 7:45 AM bus departure there were some tattered looking Gassers. We played with 11 only on Friday. I think Darren Plested set some kind of record by playing 5 different positions in 3 games. Even with fresh bodies Angelosante and H Bomb in town Friday night, we still only had 11 to go out in the hot sun and tackle the big boyz in the Championship bracket. Our first game was against the local all star team Tilac. The difference was they were all home with the wife and kids on Friday night and we were out getting a dose of H BOMB mania. End result…Tilac in a rout 13-3. With no rest we were than sent out to play the Guzzeleros. The boys were just simply out of Gas. Once again the bats never got the wake up call at the hotel and we lost 14-2 ending our tournament.

All in all it was a great weekend. The Gassers welcomed some new guys into the fold and greatly look forward to the Manila Tourney. Hopefully by that time HKSPSA League play will be back in full swing and  we will have the spring training rust off and ready to make some serious noise
