The Hong Kong Slo-Pitch Softball Association was founded in 1976, and has manifested into one of the premier associations in the territory. Based on the values of competitiveness and athleticism, the league has always attracted a broad group of active professionals. In its years of existence, the HKSPSA has had over 2,700 participating athletes. The league is proudly entering its 31st year of competition, and expects to experience continued growth in the future.
The 2007/2008 season is an exciting time for the HKSPSA. Building on one of the most successful seasons in league history, the overall competitiveness of the league was witnessed in both inter-league and regional tournament play.
The league has currently secured a prime playing location at Kings Park in Kowloon . The facilities provide a perfect environment for the games as well as for fans and family. The league games are held every Saturday, where up to 5 games per day are played (amongst 8 teams) from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The season begins in September with a One-Pitch Tournament and ends the following May. A total of 21 regular season games are played, culminating in 5 weeks of playoffs to crown the league champion.
In addition to the league games that are played on the Hong Kong fields, the league regularly participates in regional tournaments throughout the season. Hong Kong sends teams that play in the Taiwan Tournament (September), the Bangkok International Softball Tournament (November), the Philippines Pangea Tournament (February), and the Jakarta Tournament (May).
Over the past 5 years, the Hong Kong tournament teams have also experienced a great deal of success, picking up hardware at all four regional tournaments. Notable successes include Hong Kong teams being crowned the champion of the Philippines Pangea Group A tournament in both 2001 and 2004. With a full head of steam, we look forward to the 2007/2008 season and welcome any serious ball players to join the action.
