Rookies Lead Movers to Championship!

If  2003 was perhaps Santa Fe's strongest championship team than 2001 was quite possibly it's weakest!  Losing four key members from the previous season including league legends Dan Deutsch and Lee Smith the Movers stumbled to a .500 regular season record.  Despite the losses this was the rookie year for future legends Doug Hoover and Derick McEachern.  They were a talented team that just couldn't seem to find their grove.  That is.... until the playoffs!

Santa Fe found themselves playing through the losers bracket early and somehow managed to make their way to the final weekend where they would have to win three games in one day to get it done.  Their first game was against an absolutely loaded PCI team (current day California).  PCI had put together perhaps the best regular season ever and beat teams consistently in dominant fashion!  The playoffs however were a much different story!!  The young Santa Fe team mercied PCI in a four inning affair after which they went on to beat Blue Sphere (current day Hong Kong Brew House) in two consecutive games to bring home perhaps their most surprising championship ever!
