Cinderella Stormy Makes it to The Dance!

For the entire 2003-2004 season Stormy Weather (Currently The Keg) was a downright abysmal team!  Totaling only 6 regular season wins the Storm Troopers stumbled into the playoffs a weak team with very little hope of even making it into the winner's bracket.  But what coach Bryan Bachner knew that the rest of the league didn't, was that league legend Dave Wand would be back for the playoffs to throw his 40' moon balls!

The Storm Troopers managed to win their opening round game against fellow low seed Rawlings (current day Outback) setting up a second round match up with Perennial power Santa Fe.  Behind Wand's moon balls the Storm Troopers managed to eek out a 5-4 victory against the Movers and they would never look back!  The following week they took care of Excel (currently Sportview) putting them in the finals against Santa Fe, who managed to make it to there via the losers bracket.  The Troopers had two games to win one.  They didn't need it!!  On a scolding hot early May day Stormy Weather trounced the Movers 26-5 giving the HKSPSA it's first Cinderella championship!  Long regarded as the league's "good guys" the team core of Alex Vanderpol, Terry Parker, Scott Wilson, Chris Angelosante and John "Coop" Cooper were more than deserving of their first championship.
