The 2006 playoffs marked the first year of the current playoff format seeding teams 1 through 8 in best of three series. The format proved to be a smashing success not only for the league but for perennial champs Santa Fe as well!
The Movers opened the playoffs with a relatively easy two game sweep of Excel (current day Sportview). In the next round they met up with the vaunted Coyote (current day California) offense. Coyote actually was the higher seed of the two teams but could not muster up the same offensive production they had throughout the year. The talented duo of Joe Duke and Johnny Lau in the middle of the Santa Fe order was just enough as they lead the Movers to a tight two game sweep. In the finals the Movers met up with up with a tired Bulldog's team who had just come off a grueling three game series with HK Brew House. For the Movers, they played the entire playoffs without ace pitcher Doug Hoover who was only there for the final game. Clutch vet Mark Hawley stepped in to pitch lights out and hold down the fort for Hoov to come back for the finals. For Bulldog's it was their first finals appearance but in the end the simply ran out of gas as Santa Fe racked up yet another championship with a decisive two game sweep.
