Congratulations to the three POTWs: Mortys' Chris Burling, Outback's first POTW - Vince Cheung, and Milbank's Colin Jones.
Season's greetings to all our members and their families. See you on January 13th for the first softball Saturday of 2018!
The HKSPSA had three Saturdays of league games this month and saw league members travel to two different tournaments in Thailand.
We reached the halfway point of the regular season, with The Big Bite and Starr atop the standings at 12-4 at the end of the month. Milbank won their tenth game in a row after losing the first six, while also leading the way with four Player of the Week winners so far.
The three Players of the Week were all from different teams this month--Jason Ballard from Morty's, Aurelio Sempruno from Santa Fe and Brad Schadewitz from Milbank.
From November 17th to 19th, the Hong Kong Turkeys traveling team played in Pattaya in the first ever Pattaya Thailand Softball Showcase, honoring the late Richard Nudera. The Turkeys came up empty-handed but were grateful to be a part of this inaugural event. Several HKSPSA players joined teams in the 25th Bangkok International Softball Tournament the same weekend.
The Turkeys look to play again in the March 2018 Pangaea Cup 25 in the Philippines!
This October saw two Saturdays of league games, the Eighth Annual Chad Boyd Tournament and two league happy hours.
On the 9th, we had our season opening happy hour at Morty's Wan Chai, which opened just a few months ago. Thanks so much to out hosts for a great Monday evening with plenty of delicious food and drinks!
The 14th and 21st were regular season weeks 4 and 5. Congratulations to Milbank, who went 4-0 on the month, and collected its first two Players of the Week in rookie Patrick Kazley and league veteran Mark Looram.
The Eighth Annual Chad Boyd Tournament was a great success. Starting with the draft at The Big Bite Sai Ying Pun on Friday the 27th, five teams (consisting of ~70 total players) competed in a hard fought tourney on the final Saturday of the month. The Turkeys came out on top, led by captains Brad Schadewitz, James Grandolfo and Matt Terranova. Tourney MVP honors were given to Turkeys pitcher Willett Bird (HKSPSA Milbank). Photos and videos from this epic day of softball will be coming soon!
