Welcome to the new HKSPSA web site! When Andre and I took over from Jimmy and Willett we sat down and discussed how we could take our web site to higher levels.

We all agreed that our old provider had done an excellent job with stats and were responsive when we needed changes done.  However, we did not have control over the site and thus could not update as we saw fit and we were paying a high premium as well.  We decided it was time to look for new providers.  That's when we stumbled upon Team Sports Technologies......

Actually, Willett stumbled upon Team Sports Technologies!  He found the site, so if there is any credit to be had, he is the one that deserves it (conversely, if you hate the site please feel free to bitch at him as well)!  After careful consideration we are extremely confident that Team Sports provides us with a much better service than what we had before and at a considerable discount from what we were paying.  Let me highlight the new features that TST offers that led to us making the switch......

You Tube Video Function- TST offers an embedded You Tube video on the site.  We can have as many videos on the site as we see fit and there is no downloading or delay in time, the function is embedded.  We have already bought a state of the art cam corder to provide weekly highlights (imagine if you will Meyers waddling down to first!) and to catch those lighter moments in the bleachers that provide so much entertainment (G version of course).

Control over site- We will have control over the site.  Right now we have to email our provider to make changes.  It is time consuming and the site is not updated frequently (aside from stats).  The new service is extremely easy to use and we will be able to offer much more content on the site- articles, videos, pictures.  Our goal is to make the site into a lot more than just the rumor mill.

Archiving- Because we want to add more content to the site it is important that we be able to easily add as many pages as we want.  With TST we have this flexibility and can add and delete pages as we see fit.  Our goal is to make it easy to document the history of the league via the web site.

Cost Savings- As I mentioned the new service is significantly cheaper than our old provider.  This will allow us to spend more money on the league and baring any catastrophes (like collapsing walls!), provide a financial cushion.

Design- I am certainly no fashionista by any stretch of the imagination but I think it's safe to say our new site looks much more modern than the last one!  I would like to thank Andre who put in considerable time designing every aspect of the site.  He developed the banners at the top of the page and came up with the outline for the entire site and I think he has done a magnificent job!

As with any switch there are several unknowns or drawbacks.  They are as follows...

Stats- I say this is an unknown because our last provider was outstanding in this area!  We believe that we will still be able to provide the same timely updates but until we do the same job or better as our previous provider I cannot say that with absolute certainty!  If we fail in this regard than this will be a drawback and you will have every right to complain ( don't forget Willet as well J)!  One thing I do know is that the stats will look different.  We will lose the innings descriptions in the box scores (Doug Hoover doubles to right field, Tim Meade singles to left, etc.) and the design will look different but other than that we will have all the same stats as before.

Pictures- We will still be able to upload as many weekly pictures as we like but you will not be able to download them.  The new site shows the pictures in flash.  This is definitely a drawback but I still think the positives outweigh this one issue.

So there it is!  Enjoy the new site and please feel free to email Andre or I with any suggestions you may have.
