This is strictly from memory (and not a good one).

Doghouse 11   Coyote 4

In the early bird special Doghouse jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and held off Coyote 11-4. Doghouse got timely hits and played solid defense behind the great pitching of Loo. Coyote picked up 2 on a Ryno 2-run shot in the 4th, but it was not enough to offset the solid all-around game by Doghouse.

Brewhouse (A lot)   Santa Fe (A little) Game 1

Brewhouse (Greater than)   Santa Fe (Lesser than) Game 2

Brewhouse advances to the second round after a two-game sweep of undermanned Santa Fe. Although Santa Fe deserves credit for coming out and trying hard with only 9 guys, they were simply no match for Brewhouse. Big hits, solid pitching (Duke relishing his role as closer), and playoff expertise led Brew to an easy afternoon and a 3 week holiday.

The Keg 10   Bulldogs 3   Game 1

The Keg 4     Bulldogs 3   Game 2

The first game was a pitcher's dule until the 4th when The Keg broke it up with 5 runs. The big hit was a bases clearing triple by "California Love" Prosser. Atack held the Bulldogs bats in check, holding them to 5 hits for the game. Keg played excellent defense, got timely hits, and came out firing on all cylinders in the first game.

And then, holy shit. I'm familiar with the recent history of this league to an extent, through conversations with teammates and other guys in the league, but I have never witnessed the madness that is HK playoff softball. That being said, the second game between these two was the best softball game I've seen. Bulldogs did the part of coming out in the second game and going up early, 3-0. However base-running mistakes erased a couple of potential runs and they were not able to score anymore. In the bottom of the 6th Keg staged an improbable 3-run inning with two outs to tie it up. Both Birdman and Atack were on their game 7th inning and it went to extra frames. Bulldogs came up empty in the top of half and there was a sense that something unbelievable was about to happen. And it did, bottom half on a bases loaded sac fly to end it. Keg sweeps the two-game series and moves onto the second round. Birdman pitched stellar for Bulldogs, but their offense could not solve Atack and the Keg defense. Credit goes to the entire Keg team who contributed in every way.

The Wheel 26   Mes Amis 6

Mes Amis jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and had the crowd thinking upset. Then The Wheel woke up and started hitting the ball all over Kings Park. A 13-run 4th sealed the deal. At this point I don't remember specifics, but I do remember T-Mac striking out the side (yes the side...yes in slow pitch softball...yes, ALL three batters) and pelvic thrusting in the direction of the Wheel bench. Classic. What will happen in the rematch? Will T-Mac get the starting nod? Will The Wheel's flamestick finally cool down? Will Rob take less than 45 seconds to get into the batter's box? Find out this Saturday.
