Champs of 1st Annual Chad Boyd Tournament

What a day!  We had concerns as to whether the 1st ever Chad Boyd Memorial Tournament would be a success.  We didn't know if the games would be taken seriously or if we would get a good league turnout.  I am happy to report  that not only did none of those things happen but that the day wildly exceeded our expectations!  The beer was flowing early and the atmosphere was festive.  But definitely the most surprising thing was how competitive the games were.  It was a great day out at King's Park and this is surely something that is going to continue to grow in the future.  I think we have something with the one day, four team format.  It worked and surely Chad would proud!

On the field of play the upstart youngsters lead by Mike Sac and Kerbel came out of the gate fast and never looked back.  They dropped only one game on the day to FattGuzz and won most of their games convincingly, including the final.  Congrats to Noah Wangh who was the tournament MVP.  He pitched brilliantly and peppered the right field fence all day.  In addition, Jeremy Kerbel and Mike Sac should be pointed out for having a monsterous day.  These three guys were simply outstanding!  By the end of the day the Hog's had caught serious fire and were smacking the ball all over the field.   Youth was definitely a factor as all three other teams faded throughout the day.

So the torch is passed (for now:-) to the upstart youngsters.  They represented Hong Kong well and kicked some serious ass!  Can't wait for next year......
