Tmac in the house....

In a shocking turn of events the HKSPSA executive committee unanimously voted to fire Butterass from his popular "Butterass Blog" and replace him with Troy MacKenzie's new blog "Koffee with Tmac".  In a prepared statement league president Greg Flynn said "we appreciate the fine efforts that Mr. Butterass put into his blog but at this time we feel that it is in our best interest to go in another direction.  Mr. Mackenzie truely represents the image of what we believe is the consumate Hong Kong softballer."

The statement set off a fire storm of speculation as to why Mr. Butterass was let go.  There had been rumors in the preceeding months that he had become out of shape and lazy and that editors continually had to prod him into blogging.  When pressed on the matter Mr. Flynn would only say "I'd rather leave that as a private matter but let's just say you don't get the nickname 'Butterass' without it's own merits.  Butterass is a league icon and there are many other out of shape, grown adults that look up to him.  We wish him the best and hope to see him back on his feet soon."

While league members were surprised by the release of Butterass there was also a lot of questions about Mr. MacKenzie as his replacement.  Keg coach Preston Powell said "I just don't understand the boy.  I know he's from north of the border but you'd think he's Canadian or something.  There's always some kind of jibbin' and jivin' and I can't make him out from an otter's ear."  Lux first baseman Jon Meyers, who played with Mr. MacKenzie for four years, said understanding Tmac will not be a problem "let me tell you something, Troy MacKenzie will blog!"  Asked to expound on what type of blogs we can expect from Mr. MacKenzie, Meyers would only say "ones that show up on the internet".

It will be interesting to see how the blogging wars play out.  Tim Meade a veteran of eleven years said "it's all good for the league.  I can remember when Coop used to carve heiropglyphics onto the wall in right field with his soccer spikes and that was the only blogging we had.  The league has really come a long way!"  Stay tuned.....
